WV Olmstead community forum to be held at the WVU CED on May 15

All are welcome to discuss the needs of people with disabilities in our area

Tuesday, April 9, 2024

The WVU CED will be hosting a community forum to discuss the Olmstead decision and West Virginia's Olmstead Plan on Wednesday, May 15 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at the CED's Morgantown office located at 959 Hartman Run Rd.

What is Olmstead? It is a landmark decision established in 1999 that upholds the civil rights of people with disabilities to receive services and supports in the most integrated setting in the community. Olmstead ruled that unnecessary institutionalization of people with disabilities was a form of discrimination that is prohibited by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

All are invited to participate in a discussion about the needs of people with disabilities in the community.

If you need accommodations to participate in this public meeting, please contact Carissa Davis at least one week prior to the meeting date:
