(Remote) Community Support Specialist (22588)

As a (Remote) Community Support Specialist, you will provide support for the Mentoring & Oversight for Developing Independence with Foster Youth (MODIFY) Program at the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED). You will provide follow-up services to youth in transition from foster care to adult independence. The primary emphasis is the coordination of services to youth exiting foster care. Service coordination provided to this group of young adults will ensure that system linkages are in place for supporting these youth in the life domains of housing, employment, education, finance, physical/mental health, family and socialization. The goal of these services is to promote self-sufficiency and a successful transition to independence for former foster care youth.

(Remote) Community Work Incentives Coordinator Intake Specialist (22513)

The CWIC (Community Work Incentives Coordinator) Intake Specialist will support the Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED) by providing work incentives planning and assistance to beneficiaries with disabilities and their families, who are potentially eligible to participate in Federal or State work incentives programs designed to assist disabled beneficiaries to work. This position will conduct outreach efforts and work in cooperation with Federal, State and private agencies and nonprofit organizations. This position will also provide information on: the adequacy of health benefits coverage that may be offered by an employer of a beneficiary with a disability; the extent to which other health benefits coverage may be available to that beneficiary; and the availability of protection and advocacy services for beneficiaries with disabilities, and how to access such services.

This position serves as a resource contact and independently uses professional concepts and techniques, as well as organizational policies to solve a wide range of moderate to complex problems in imaginative and practical ways. Depth skills, knowledge, and interpretive abilities, as well as some creativity, are required to successfully perform duties. Work effort often addresses non-routine matters within established protocol, guidelines, and/or policies. Work effort has significant impact on client services and operations, producing moderate to major organizational, legal and financial results and/or liabilities. Position duties may require oversight of projects or programs, including coordination of work by others providing support of basic objectives.

Family Based Care Specialist (21685)

This position supports the Specialized Family Care Program by providing families, organizations, and communities with technical, resource, and referral support for services of the individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities being placed in Program provider homes. The incumbent will also provide regional recruitment, certification, and training to Specialized Care and Respite Care Providers for approved at-risk individuals.

The purpose of this position is to provide resources and support to improve the quality of life for families and children enrolled in the Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) program through the WV Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR). Children who qualify include children with complex medical conditions and/or children in foster care. We will hire in 3 separate counties of Wood, Logan and Monongalia.

Mobile App Developer Contracted Position

The WVU CED is looking for a strong mobile app developer who welcomes both engineering and maintenance tasks. This individual must have extensive knowledge about the whole mobile app development process from the first line of code to publishing in the store(s). The primary focus will be to implement new user interfaces and features together with automated unit and integration tests.

You will be working with our Country Roads coordinating team, where your knowledge and advice about application architecture and the newest mobile technologies will be highly appreciated. The code you write will need to be cleanly organized and of the highest quality. You’ll also help ensure solid application performance and an excellent user experience. Therefore, the applications must be ADA accessible and streamlined.

  • Developing new features and user interfaces from wireframe models
  • Ensuring the best performance and user experience of the application
  • Fixing bugs and performance problems
  • Writing clean, readable, and testable code
  • Cooperating with back-end developers, designers, and the rest of the team to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions

The purpose of this position is to perform clerical and administrative functions following established policies, procedures, and methods in support of the Principal Investigator, Manager, and staff of the MODIFY Program.

This position provides program, as well as direct client support services. Responds to inquiries and independently resolves matters of low to moderate complexity. Responsibilities require some judgment, resourcefulness, and originality, but diverse guides and precedents are usually available to apply or adapt to the circumstances. Work effort has considerable impact on client services, program and project image, with potential legal liabilities.

The successful candidate will work within the West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU CED), which has provided evidence-based services, training, innovative research, and the latest national and international information to individuals with disabilities, their families and providers, and our West Virginian communities for more than 45 years. These services are provided by a team of experts representing all abilities, experiences, and backgrounds located throughout the state. Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) programs prepare trainees to be leaders in the field of disabilities. WV LEND is a nine-month long (300 total hours) training program.
